First Ward: New Construction Developments A newly developed district of Center City also called "The Garden District" began seeing rapid growth around 1999. Street lamp lined sidewalks, new landscaping, and predominatly offering low and midrise condos, townhomes, and larger single family homes gives First Ward a residential feel. Although on the edge of First Ward, a 17 story residential highrise (Courtside) now towers over the neighborhood giving some height to the area. Along with residential growth, First Ward now has a new $265 million dollar pro basketball arena, an upcoming mixed use village and park, a Ritz Carlton Hotel, and the light rail line will soon begin running through this area.

Second Ward: New Construction Developments Currently home to the Convention Center, Westin Hotel, government buildings, and The Ratcliffe condominums (home of several well known celebs)... this area of Center City is just now starting to see a lot of growth including a multitude of new development. On the way is Brooklyn Village a mixed use village of condos, apartments, a large park, and retail. Also up and coming to Second Ward is the NASCAR Hall of Fame, NASCAR office tower, ALoft Hotel (urban version of the W Hotel), 210 Trade condo tower, The Park Condos, The Trust condos, The Tower residences, and the EpiCenter entertainment complex offering nightlife, dining, and entertainment. The light rail line will also be soon be running through this area!

Third Ward: New Construction Developments This district of Center City is home to the Carolina Panthers NFL stadium, Johnson and Wales University, and the mixed use Gateway Village offering condos, office, dining, Starbucks, a YMCA, and an outdoor atrium featuring live music, the summertime Green Market, and other events throughout the year. After not seeing a lot of development for a number of years, Third Ward is now a booming area! Currently offering a mix of lower rise condo and townhomes, but soon to see the eclectic Warehouse District which is now under construction, a proposed baseball stadium, an urban park surrounded by 5 highrise residential condo towers, as well as Wachovia's planned office tower, 42 story condo tower, and museum/cultural complex.

Fourth Ward: New Construction Developments This is the historic district of Center City Charlotte and also the closest residential district to the heart if the City. Located in the center of this area is the 3.5 acre Historic Fourth Ward Park where neighborhood residents meet to walk their dogs, sunbathe, and gather. Surrounding the park you will find a mix of townhomes and upscale condos, tree lined streets lined with Victorian homes, and a neighborhood pub and restaurant. On the edges of Historic Fourth Ward you will also find small urban lofts and several upcoming residential high rise towers. A true neighborhood feel in the heart of this exciting urban city! On the way to this neighorhood are several residential high rises, midrises, and a townhome development.
